British rapper Yung Filly is to face a retrial in Australia next June on three rape charges, after a jury was unable to reach verdicts at his earlier trial.
The artist, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, was cleared in July of several other sexual offences. Jurors could not agree, however, on the three remaining rape counts, leaving those allegations unresolved and prompting a further trial.
Hung jury leads to second trial
The outcome in July split the case in two. A number of sexual offence allegations were dismissed, while three rape charges were left hanging after the jury reported that it was undecided. Prosecutors are now pursuing those three counts again, with the retrial listed for June.
“He was cleared of several sexual offences in July, but the jury remained undecided on three rape charges.”

Few further details of the proceedings have been set out in the public reporting of the case. What is established is the identity of the accused, the country in which the allegations are being tried, the mixed result of the July hearing, and the listing of a retrial for the following June.
“A retrial on the three unresolved rape charges is due to take place in Australia next June.”
